Polypropylene material

is a highly versatile, semicrystalline thermoplastic polymer produced from the polymerization of propylene monomers. It is one of the most widely used and fastest-growing plastics globally, ranking just behind polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride in overall production volume.

One of the most defining characteristics of polypropylene is its exceptionally low density, typically ranging from 0.89 to 0.92 g/cm³, making it the lightest among all common commodity plastics. Despite its lightweight nature, it exhibits excellent mechanical properties, including high tensile strength, stiffness, and outstanding resistance to fatigue. This unique fatigue resistance makes it ideal for manufacturing "living hinges," such as those found on fliptop bottle caps and instrument cases. Furthermore, PP is highly resistant to chemical corrosion, including acids and alkalis, and possesses excellent electrical insulation properties that remain unaffected by moisture.
